6 Easy Steps To Discovering Your God-given Dream

business, faith

Are you feeling stuck? Maybe, you just feel like the job you have now isn’t your dream job. But honestly, you have no idea what your dream is. You have some ideas but no direction. If that’s you, these 6 easy steps to discovering your God-given dream are going to help you. I was where you are once, believe me I understand the longing feeling that you feel. And I am here to help you, so let’s get started!

1 | Get a notebook

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Just get a notebook or journal so you can keep all of your thoughts and ideas in one place. This will help you in the long run as will be able to look back over your notes and find consistency and patterns in what you write down. Keep the notebook with you wherever you go, maybe in your purse or in your car so you won’t forget any ideas that randomly come to mind.

2 | Gather your inspiration

Whether it is taking a day trip to somewhere new, going to the park, or simply walking around in Barnes and Noble, taking some time for yourself to find inspiration is a must. Changing your surroundings changes your perspective and helps get your creativity flowing! Schedule some “me” time to do this once a week or whenever you have some free time.

3 | Assess your strengths

In a page in your notebook, make a list of all your strengths. Write down the things you know you are really good at. Those “no-brainers” in your skill set that everyone says you’re incredible at. Once you have that list, cross off any strengths that you happen to have but aren’t really that interesting to you. From there, you’ll be able to focus on the fun stuff.

4 | Look at things you love

Think about activities you really enjoy doing. Brainstorm things you would love to do even if you weren’t even getting paid to do them. You don’t necessarily have to be amazing at these things, you just have to really love doing each of them. Focus on activities that are solely fueled by passion and excitement! Ultimately, these should be things you would want to do all day every day out of pure enjoyment.

5 | Try new hobbies

You know all those things you have in your Pinterest boards. Maybe it’s lettering tutorials, maybe it’s some diy crafts, or maybe it’s some recipes you want to try to make. Try all of them. Take one Saturday a month and try one of those new hobbies and see how you like it! You will be surprised at how quickly and effortlessly  you pick up the skill. There is a chance that you haven’t even uncovered your God-given dream yet. That’s what happened to me with lettering. I tried it one day and fell in love!

6 | Pray about it

This is the last step because it’s the most important. Praying throughout all of these steps is a really good idea. Ask God to give you creativity, clarity, and direction. You will be surprised how beneficial this is to the whole process. It keeps you from getting discouraged or overwhelmed by all of the ideas and possibilities.
